Conference Report

2006 Annual Conference and Exhibition

Wednesday 10 May
City Presentation Centre, London EC1

On 10 May, the IofAM’s most successful Conference, Exhibition and Dinner was attended by record numbers of delegates, sponsors and guests.

We welcomed a stellar line-up of speakers including the ever-popular Brian Walden who chaired the Conference and kept delegates entertained with a range of pertinent anecdotes and tried-and-tested tips on dealing with the demands of the media.

Lord Sawyer of Darlington’s vast personal experience managing varied and powerful membership organisations like Britannia Building Society and the Labour Party was the basis for analysing – and questioning – a variety of management techniques and business strategies.

An inspirational visual presentation was given by ENCAMS Chief Executive Alan Woods, who is growing a cohesive organisation of members working to raise the standards of our local environments.

Full use was made of the state-of-the-art City Presentation Centre with an interactive live video hook-up to Christina Buonocore, Chief Executive of MPA – the Microsoft Project Association.

The personal experience of Business Services Association Chief Executive Norman Rose was the basis of a discussion about communicating inside and outside a demanding membership

The day was followed by an entertaining dinner at the Commonwealth Club, allowing delegates, speakers and guests to continue the day’s debate well into the evening.
