| Managing conferences and events is a growing responsibility for many of us, and being aware of security threats is high on the agenda. On 20 March seminar delegates focused on crisis management – the threats, the strategies and improving awareness to help avert a crisis and manage effectively if the worst happens. |

Dr Adele-Louise Carter of the British Computer Society concentrated on the impact of public/private partnerships, emphasising communication as a means to ensure that contingency plans are developed and maintained – helping to guarantee a smooth transition in a crisis.
We also welcomed Detective Chief Inspector Chris Phillips, of NaCTSO – the National Counter Terrorism Security Office - who shed light on our understanding of new threats, discussed ways to access specialist advice and helped clarify what various organisations are doing to raise awareness.
