Tony Millns

Tony Millns (Chief Executive, English UK) kicked off with an overview of a top trade fair and conference in his industry – a model for how his association pulls in revenue from diverse sources. The event incorporates a range of income-generating possibilities ranging from exhibitor fees to product sponsorship to drawing income from associated, smaller events linked to the trade fair. The discussion offered a snapshot of formats offering a rage of new ideas for associations and flagging up how the positive exposure from this type of event can help to raise profile, reinforce and promote good practice and encourage partnerships.

Catherine Hawkins

Catherine Hawkins (Director, Communicate Sport) used her own experience developing sponsorship packages as the basis of a colourful presentation illustrating various creative ideas. Virgin and T-mobile were held up as the gold standard of successful sponsorship formats while at the same time various types of potential sponsorship initiatives were discussed - from music festivals to targeted meetings to evening events. The talk offered a practical overview of approaches that work.

The session ended with lively Q&A where delegates took a stab at outlining innovative sponsorship suggestions to investigate for their own organisations.
