Brian Walden was educated at Queens College and Nuffield College Oxford. He was elected President of the Oxford Union.
He was a Member of Parliament for Birmingham from 1964 to 1977.
He became a television interviewer and presenter on "Weekend World" from 1977 to 1987. Later did "The Walden Interview" and "Walden" from 1988 to 1994. Switching from ITV to BBC, he did three series of unscripted lectures to camera, notably "Walden on Heroes" and "Walden on Villains".
He has won many television awards, principally a BAFTA(British Oscar): The Richard Dimbleby Award 1985, Aims of Industry Free Enterprise Award 1990, TV Times Favourite Television Personality 1990, and ITV Personality of the Year 1991.
He has written a column for The Sunday Times and London Evening Standard.
He speaks at and Chairs many conferences both in Britain and abroad. He is Chairman of several companies.
He has recently presented "A Point of View", on Radio 4.
