Robert Barker Membership Manager, Association Interior Specialists
Robert began his career in the construction industry over 37 years ago as a Contracts Manager with a West London suspended ceiling contractor, and this led on to appointments with other contracting organisations as contracts director and London regional manager responsible for negotiating, supplying and installing complete interior fit-out packages. Later in his career Robert worked for a US-based lighting company and two UK-based international manufacturers of metal ceiling systems. He has travelled extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Southern Africa and the Middle East in sales and technical roles. Robert joined the Association of Interior Specialists in September 2006 as Membership Manager. He was recruited primarily because of his sales, negotiation and contracting experience, his wide knowledge of the interiors industry and the breadth of relationships with AIS members (both existing and potential). His current role encompasses membership recruitment and retention, the introduction of new benefits and services, and also ongoing vetting of AIS members to raise and maintain quality standards.
