Stephen McCartney Head of Private Sector Data Protection Promotion, ICO
Stephen joined the Information Commissioner’s Office Northern Ireland in 2004 as Operations and Policy Manager. In January 2007 he went on a secondment to the European Data Protection Supervisor in Brussels, returning to work full time at the ICO in Wilmslow as Head of Data Protection Promotion in December 2007. Before joining the ICO he managed subject access requests and FOIA procedure for a Belfast health trust, and before that worked in a range of roles including community youth work, addiction services, community relations and the Citizen’s Advice Bureaux in Northern Ireland.
