Speaker Profile

Sue Froggatt,
Membership recruitment and
retention expert

Sue is one of the UK's leading experts on membership recruitment and retention.

Over 1,600 people have attended the seminars that she regularly runs on these and related topics and subscribe to her membership e-bulletin.

She has over 20 years experience working in the education, training and personal development sectors. She started her career in market research and marketing, working in the UK and Australia. However 10 years ago she decided to specialise in working exclusively with membership associations.

Sue is a regular conference speaker and writer. She has recently launched the 2008 Membership Development Survey with international partners to help associations benchmark their activities. In 2005 she founded the Membership Development Awards.

Her approach is to look for practical approaches that can be applied at a strategic, tactical and operational level. She is a firm believer in practical, commonsense communications that are backed up by evidence. Over the years she has witnessed thousands of pounds being wasted using techniques that were unproven and impractical for the task at hand.

Today there are many new influences impacting on recruitment and retention, so Sue has been looking more closely at the future trends impacting on this and also how to best encourage members to deepen their commitment via volunteering.

Retention is a critical activity for every membership organisation and in her session she will highlight a number of practical and strategic approaches you can take to develop a retention culture inside your association.
